England backers are celebrating after bookies and exchanges decided to pay out on a home win for the fourth Test. Bets of up to 33-1 were matched just before the market was suspended yesterday.

Layers held off settling their markets following the abandoned Test even though cricket officials ruled that England had won when Pakistan forfeited the match.

But this morning most decided to pay out, despite offering odds of up to 33-1 on England just before the markets were suspended.

A Betfair spokesman said: "We will be settling the match odds market with England as the winner with all bets on the market standing."

He added that all winning bets - even those struck after the bails were lifted at 4.56pm and the markets was suspended at 5.01pm - would be honoured.

"We take the view that the game was live at all times prior to the suspension of betting, and all bets placed before suspension should stand," he said.
