Hardened greyhound fans who thought they had seen it all were left stunned on Saturday night by the performance of WESTMEAD HAWK in the second semi-final of the greyhound Derby.

In what is being hailed as the best performance EVER over four bends – Westmead Hawk – who last week we said we wouldn’t be opposing at odds on to win the event – was in serious trouble of qualifying at half-way when he was stone last. He traded at 38/1 in-running.

The last 15 seconds of the race had to be seen to be believed as Westmead Hawk sliced his way through the field to catch Mineola Farloe on the line and win the race.

He joins his half-brother Westmead Joe in a final which is the best news for greyhound racing for years.
