I backed Australia to win this years tri-nations as they appear consistently able to work out how to beat the All Blacks.  They are often the forgotten team of the tournament, quietly ignored as the South African and New Zealand media anoint their respective sides as the greatest before they have won anything of real note.  While Australia look short of true world-class tight five forwards, Eddie Jones is a very clever coach and his players are capable of adapting their game plan to specific opponents.  They picked up a bonus point in Johannesburg at the weekend and it may well prove valuable come tournament end.

New Zealand face their first true test of the year in Cape Town this Saturday.  The Springboks have their tails up and also have the advantage of recent test match practice.  They will be hoping to catch the All Blacks cold as they have not played since beating the Lions on July 10th.  I see the Springboks winning a tight contest.
