“Horrendous”, “disastrous” – not words you normally associate with Tiger Woods – but that’s how his round of 75 was described on the opening day of the USPGA at Baltusrol.

However, and extremely rarely if not uniquely, the odds have slipped too far at around 21/1. Tiger is only 8 shots of the lead. We use the word ‘only’ because by his standards you wouldn’t bet against him making up that ground in the final round let alone with three rounds to play. He’s absolutely not lost sight of the hare – and whilst those punters who backed him at 2/1 will be licking their wounds – we’re stepping in to back him at those odds.

A half decent round on Friday will see those odds tumble dramatically and we are more than happy to take our chance on a player we normally try and find someone to beat.

Tiger Woods 21/1 – 8 shots off the lead – with 54 holes to play – grab the price.
